If you’re looking to buy an outdoor fire pit or have recently purchased one, you’ll want to know how to make the most out of it all year round!
Our range of outdoor fire pits are perfect for use throughout the year, they can be left outside or packed flat and stored neatly.
Assembling your fire pit
The first thing is correctly and safely assembling your Olive & Wild fire pit.
The pack you receive largely depends on which fire pit you have purchased, however, our fire pits are all easy to assemble and come with full instructions.
If you have purchased our compact fire pit, you will receive:
- An Olive & Wild carry tote
- 2 x side panels
- 2 x patterned end panels
- A BBQ cooking grill
- An ashtray
If you have purchased a medium or large size fire pit, you will receive:
- 2 x side panels
- 2 x interchangeable end panels
- A BBQ cooking grill
- An ashtray
- A stiffener for support
All of our fire pits are assembled in a similar way and don’t require tools!
Simply prop up the side panels in the ashtray and slot the end panels into the side panels, for the medium and large fire pits, you may need a second pair of hands to help.
When assembling the medium and large fire pits, your final step is to add the stiffener for support where the two side panels meet in the middle.
Using your fire pit
Your Olive & Wild fire pit can be used with either wood or coal, if you’re looking to use your fire pit without the cooking grill, we recommend burning wood.
To start your fire, add wood to the fire pit along with kindling and fire lighters, if you need a little bit of extra help getting it lit.
When lit, gradually add wood as the fire burns down, making sure you don’t overstack the fire to either build it too high or suffocate the flow of oxygen to the flames.
Please ensure you read our fire safety information before lighting your fire pit and always take great care when using your Olive & Wild fire pit.
Using your fire pit to cook
All our Olive & Wild fire pits come complete with a catering-grade BBQ grill which sits perfectly on top of the fire pit.
We recommend lighting your coal at least an hour before you’re ready to cook, this allows the flames to die down and the embers to glow, creating a steady source of heat to cook your food gently all the way through.
Cooking your food over a flame is likely to char the outside while leaving the middle raw, so we would not recommend this method.
Please make sure your food is cooked through and piping hot before consuming.
Packing your fire pit away
When your fire pit is completely cool, you may choose to disassemble it and store it until next time.
Empty out the cooled ash and dispose of it according to local council regulations. Once your fire pit is empty, we recommend giving it a quick clean with a wire brush and WD40 before packing it away.
All Olive & Wild fire pits pack flat into their ashtray for easy storage; so all you have to do is take out the stiffener (for medium and large fire pits) and remove the side panels from their slots. Again, you may need another person to help keep the panels steady.
